Poha, a traditional Indian breakfast, is light, flavorful, and easy to prepare. 

Let's take you through the step-by-step process of making this delicious dish!


Ingredients:

  • Poha (flattened rice) – 2 cups
  • Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  • Green chilies – 2 (slit)
  • Curry leaves – 8-10
  • Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Peanuts – 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon – 1 (cut into wedges)
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt – to taste
  • Fresh coriander – for garnish



Step 1: Rinse the Poha

Rinse 2 cups of poha gently in water and drain. 

Leave it aside for 5-10 minutes to soften the poha.



Step 2: Prepare the Tempering


Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. 

Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, and let them splutter. 

Then, add curry leaves, green chilies, and peanuts. 

Saute until the peanuts are crispy and golden.



Step 3: Add Onions and Spices

Add chopped onions to the tempering and sauté until they turn soft and translucent. 
Now, add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix well.


Step 4: Add the Poha

Gently add the softened poha to the pan. 

Mix everything together so the poha is coated evenly with the turmeric and onion mixture. 

Add salt to taste and stir for 2-3 minutes on low heat.



Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Turn off the heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the poha. 

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.


Poha is ready to be enjoyed as a quick and healthy breakfast. 

You can also serve it with a cup of hot chai for the perfect start to your day!
